About the Team The Flag Team, or FT (formerly Boys Drill Team, or BDT) was descended from the Rifle Team, which was discontinued in 1994 by the San Francisco Unified School District. So instead of using rifles, the Flag Team drills with metal poles with flags. Both Flag Team and the Exhibition Drill Team perform in various parades, such as the Veteran's Day Parade and the Lunar New Year Parade. The team also competes in the Annual Spring Review Competition in the spring semester. Flag Team drills in silence, without verbal commands. Within the drill sequences, they make formations and perform various movements with their flags, including spins and ripples.
